In April 2010 i got contacted by Jan Persson, Founder and CEO of Edgy Monkey, a street, surf & skate company. I was asked to design a logotype for his new started bussiness. Jan was a great client and we met face to face several times during the process to discuss the designs. He was one of those clients that trusts in you and lets you freely explore design ideas. He was very pleased with the result and we got along very well and I look forward to working with Jan again the future.

The companys old logotype

This was his current logotype that needed to be re-designed. I started researching around the name and competitors. The keyword we came up with was: edgy, cool, fresh, new and street.

Sketches

These are some of the sketches I did, I normally spend more time sketching than I design in front of the computer. To really explore, try different ideas, and to quickly see if they work.

Final logotype

This is the final design of the logotype we decided on. If you turn the logotype upside down you see can the two combined Y’s forming a handrail which was suitable for our target group (skaters etc…).

Stickers

We also produced some stickers to promote his new started business.

It’s been an amazing experience being so fortunate to meet & work with truly talented designers while still being in school. We were 5 people from our class who headed over to London to work at the company, read about it here. In the past two months I’ve learnt tons of new stuff about UI & UX design & developed my skills. Since the project is not live yet I cant unfortunate not post it here. The last day we held a presentation for the different design teames about what we had accomplished during our stay.
